Steve is a qualified accountant with nearly 30 years healthcare experience, of which 25 years is as a management consultant. Steve has worked across the NHS in acute care, primary care, shared services, strategy and commissioning projects. He has delivered a large number of benchmarking projects for both the NHS Benchmarking Network and other clients. As a Director of the Network, Steve leads national projects that compare and analyse mental health, emergency/urgent care, radiology, pharmacy and corporate functions. Steve recently presented the Network’s mental health work at the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership (IIMHL) conference in Canberra, Australia.
Claire qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in corporate finance for many years. Since completing an MA in organisational dynamics 10 years ago, she has worked with the NHS applying her experience of strategic planning and project management. Claire is a Director of the NHS Benchmarking Network and leads on the Network’s work on community services, community hospitals, acute therapies, older people and operating theatres. She leads on project work for individual trusts/CCG in the areas of intermediate care, community services and integrated discharge. Claire works closely with the British Geriatrics Society to deliver the National Audit of Intermediate Care.
Debbie is an experienced NHS Manager who has spent most of her working life in operational management roles within the NHS, covering community and mental health services (including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). Her last position in the NHS was in a service modernisation role in an acute Foundation Trust. Debbie supports a wide range of Network projects in the community, intermediate care and mental health sectors and has also been involved with a number of Trusts and CCGs working on intermediate care strategies, community services reviews, mental health modernisation projects and integrated hospital discharge team development.
Aidan is a project manager and information analyst with over a decade's experience of designing and running benchmarking projects. Aidan has a masters degree in Biochemistry and spent 12 years as part of CIPFA’s benchmarking team, before joining Benchmark. Currently, Aidan is managing a number of projects for the Network which include urgent care, pharmacy and corporate functions, and a variety of projects for NHS Wales. Aidan has exceptional VBA skills and is always innovating and producing new reporting systems and analytical tools for Network members.
Zoë has over 10 years’ experience of running healthcare improvement projects in the North West of England and also further afield in Australia, Sierra Leone, Mexico Colombia and the USA. Zoë originally joined the NHS on the Graduate Management Training Scheme. She has a masters degree in Healthcare Leadership and Management, along with a further masters degree in Computational Linguistics. Zoë currently leads projects in a number of areas, including annual benchmarking for Mental Health and CAMHS, and undertakes a wide range of bespoke analysis for clients including NHS England, the Department of Health, Health Education England and individual member organisations.
Emma joined the team in November 2016, after working for a NHS Mental Health and Community provider for over 14 years. Her last role in the Trust was as a Business Partner – Performance. She has a BA Hons in Business Management and is qualified in Project Management. Emma works on the Network’s Mental Health and CAMHs projects and is currently managing the London mental health online dashboard project and a bespoke project for Health Education England on the provision of perinatal mental health support within universal maternity and health visiting services.
Jessica Grantham joined Benchmark in July of 2012, after graduating from university with a degree in Economics. Jessica has supported five benchmarking cycles for the Network’s community and intermediate care projects and is an expert in the Network’s methodology. She leads on work with the University of Leeds on a joint research project on community hospitals. Jessica has recently taken on overall responsibility for the Network’s commissioning sector, project managing urgent care, medicines optimisation and planned care and developing new benchmarking products for STPs.
Leigh joined the team in June of 2014 after completing her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, where she spent time on placement in acute and community trusts. Through these placements, she developed an interest in promoting good practice and service improvement. Leigh has overall responsibility for the acute sector and project manages the emergency care, acute therapies, radiology, older people and learning disabilities projects for the Network. She also works on a bespoke project for NHS England benchmarking secure mental health services.
Lucy Trubacik, Assistant Project Manager
Lucy joined the team as a Project Coordinator in March 2016. She has a mathematical background, having obtained a BSc in Mathematics she went on to teach the subject at secondary level for over three years. Lucy supports the community and intermediate care projects for the Network. Her role includes assisting Network members with queries, member engagement and supporting data validation and analysis.
Lindsey has a degree in Event Management and Diploma in Marketing and worked in the NHS before joining the Benchmark team. With excellent healthcare experience, Lindsey manages the NHS Benchmarking Network membership, marketing, communications, exhibitions, websites and social media. Her role includes developing and implementing the Network’s overarching communication and marketing strategy. She also supports the Network Steering Group and Reference Groups.
Ashley has a Bachelor’s degree in Events Management and over five years’ experience in the events industry, as well as two years’ experience in Primary Care. Ashley organises and facilitates member events, undertaking all liaison with venues and external speakers, and is the first point of contact for Network members. Ashley has a passion for the events industry, and is a member of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO).
Emma Pruce, Events and Membership Administrator
Emma has a Bachelor’s degree in History of Art and a range of experience from non-profit, public and private sectors. Emma’s background focuses on customer service and membership engagement, specifically within the student body. Emma supports Network members, assists with the Network’s Event Programme, and contributes to content for member communications.
Stephen is an information analyst with ten years of experience within the NHS. Stephen has a degree in Psychology and has worked in both community and hospital settings before joining the team in 2012. Stephen has a flair for system design and development and has developed innovative benchmarking products for clients and NHS Benchmarking members that benchmark: mental health services, CAMHS, acute therapies, and radiology. Stephen leads on the development of new tools and products including an excel based system to generate bespoke PowerPoint slides.
Stephen Parker, Information Analyst
Stephen is a software developer with over 30 years’ experience in IT and joined the team in 2016. Stephen has developed bespoke systems in a large number of sectors including banking, manufacturing and leisure. Currently Stephen is providing analysis for forensic mental health, perinatal mental health and CAMHS benchmarking projects. He also produces bespoke toolkits and software products for Network projects.
Tom Leonard, Analyst
Tom first started working at the Network in 2013. He is currently at University working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, and returns to the Network between University terms. Tom works as an analyst, is a proficient user of Excel and has more recently been working with SQL. Tom also undertakes a wide range of additional support tasks for the team.
Fraser is a computer science graduate and software developer with over 20 years experience in IT. Fraser has developed bespoke systems in a large number of sectors including healthcare, banking, manufacturing, and engineering. Fraser leads on the delivery of our online data collection and reporting products for a wide range of NHS Benchmarking Network projects.
Lucas is a computer science graduate with previous experience working as a software engineer for a Silicon IP and Software company. He has previously worked on cross-platform automated software testing and quality assurance. Lucas develops and maintains the online data collection and reporting tools for the Network projects. His focus is on the database design and application interface.
Daniel is a Software Developer who has been working in IT since 2011, he is currently working towards a degree in Digital and Technology Solutions at Manchester Metropolitan University on an apprenticeship scheme with Benchmark. Daniel’s previous experience was as an IT service desk analyst, providing support and maintenance for hardware and software for a large retail business. In his current role with BMC, Daniel focuses on client side technology and manages the IT infrastructure of the business.
Aneesa Halim, Project Co-Ordinator
Aneesa has a bachelor's degree in Psychology with Philosophy and joined the team in September 2015, after teaching English at a university in Saudi Arabia for a year. Aneesa is a Project Co-ordinator within the mental health team and works on core and bespoke mental health projects for the Network. Aneesa deals with member queries and undertakes data validation and analysis.
Jessica Walsh, Project Co-Ordinator
Jessica joined the team in October 2016, having previously worked on several projects within the Financial Sector. She has a BA Hons degree in English Literature. Jessica provides support on the commissioning projects and is also working on the universal perinatal mental health project. Jessica encourages member participation in projects and assists members with completion of data specifications.
Chris joined the team as a Project Coordinator in September 2016. He has obtained a BSc in Geography, and an MA in Environmental Management and Consultancy. Chris supports the corporate functions and acute therapies projects and will be working on the new outpatients project for the acute sector in 2017. Chris also assists on a number of projects for NHS Wales.
David Barker, Project Co-Ordinator
Dave joined the team as a Project Coordinator in May 2017. He holds a BA Honours degree in Economics and Politics, and has previous experience in healthcare in both research and account coordination roles. Dave provides support across the mental health projects and pharmacy project.
Joshua Richards, Project Co-Ordinator
Josh joined the team as Project Co-Ordinator in July 2017. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Sociology, MSc in Sociological Research, and PhD in Sociology. Josh has previously conducted research into privacy, sharing and housing, as well as holding a project management role in the Public Sector. Josh provides support to the community health projects within the Network, assisting with member queries, data validation and analysis.
